This an enjoyable, well written book, but it is more an engaging story than a romance. Dr. Sarah Rose, a police forensic pathologist, is sent to a remote area on the north coast of Australia. A light plane has crashed, the pilot dead, and a mystery surrounds the amount of blood found at the scene, indicating missing passengers. Sarah is dismayed to learn she will be working with Dr. Alistair Benn, the only doctor serving this remote area. Six years before, she was engaged to his identical twin who was killed in an accident in which she was reported to be driving while on prescription drugs. Alistair, who was falling in love with Sarah at the time turned his love into anger. Sarah had loved him too and because she loved him and his family, she harbored a terrible secret. Alistair and Sarah work together to solve the mysteries involving the crash, and slowly get to know each other. Alistair, still harbors resentment and says some cruel things to Sarah. The big reveal doesn't come until late in the book. All the loose ends get tied up neatly and cleverly. Of course there is a HEA, but with almost no steam. More of an epilogue would have been nice. Still a good read and I will read it again sometime.Product details

Sometimes the past comes back to haunt...
Dr. Sarah Rose thought her past was done with as she has moved on and is now a forensic pathologist. But her latest case leads her straight back to the man who knows her past and blames her for a past tragedy. Dr. Alistair Benn is torn between the love he feels for Sarah and his anger. Meanwhile, they have a mysterious plane crash, a dead pilot, and missing people to find. Will Sarah and Alistair find love in the midst of the chaos?
I believe this is only the second book I've read by Marion Lennox but I'm quickly becoming hooked! Her smooth writing style makes even painfully emotional scenes become bearable. Alistair and Sarah have a nasty past, a very painful past that I didn't believe any author could successfully overcome... but Marion Lennox did it and made me believe in happiness for Alistair and Sarah!
The story is well done and full of the tense moments I've come to expect with the Harlequin Medical line. I'm not sure I completely bought into the final solution for Barry but the ride along the way sure was hair-raising! Marion Lennox shows the true heart of what love is all about in THE POLICE DOCTOR'S SECRET.

As a new writer to me in the past month or so, I find her books difficult to put down. Her characters & stories are believable. I look forward to reading other books ny Ms Lennox.
